Did my TalkParade Phone Adaptor obtain an IP address? 1. Prepare a pen and paper so that you can write down the IP address. 2. Pick up the phone and dial ****. 3. Dial 110 followed by the # sign. At this point, you will hear an IP address through your phone's receiver. 4. If you hear 0.0.0.0 then your TalkParade Phone Adaptor did not obtain an IP address. 5. Check that all your cables are plugged in properly. You can also try logging onto the Internet from your computer and see if you can access the Internet. 6. If you are unable to access the Internet from your computer, contact your Network Administrator or your router manufacturer's technical support. 7. If you are able to access the Internet from your computer repeat steps 2-4. If you still hear 0.0.0.0, reboot your home network. Why is there no dial tone? 1. Check the TalkParade Phone Adaptor and make sure that the phone is plugged into the port marked "Phone 1". 2. Check the left side of the TalkParade Phone Adaptor and make sure that the "ACT" light is active. 3. Check to make sure that the TalkParade Phone Adaptor has an IP address by doing the following: a. If you hear an IP address but still do not have a dial tone, contact customer service. Why am I getting a fast busy tone on outgoing calls? 1. You need to make sure that you are dialing all 11 digits of the phone number. For example, 1-800-555-1212. 2. If you are dialing correctly and you are still getting a fast busy tone, reboot your home network. 3. If this did not solve the problem, contact customer service. Why doesn't my phone ring? 1. Check to make sure that your phone is plugged into the port marked "Phone 1" on the right side of your TalkParade Phone Adaptor. 2. Check the volume on your phone's ringer to make sure that it is audible. 3. Reboot your home network. 4. If this does not work, contact customer service. Can I plug the TalkParade Phone Adaptor into my USB connection on my modem? The TalkParade Phone Adaptor can only be connected to your router or home network with an Ethernet connection. If your Internet modem only has a USB port, you can purchase a "USB to Ethernet" converter to connect a router to your Internet modem. Then you can connect your computer and the TalkParade Phone Adaptor to the router. Can I use my TalkParade phone service with Internet Connection Service (ICS)? We do not recommend that you use ICS for Windows because the TalkParade Phone Adaptor needs extended lease time and ICS provides a minimal lease period. This can cause your TalkParade Phone Adaptor to reboot during a call. We recommend that you use a DSL/Cable router that will provide NAT and DHCP for your network. Do I need a static public IP address for the TalkParade Phone Adaptor to work? You do not need a static public IP address for the TalkParade Phone Adaptor to work. Why is my fax transmittal being interrupted? 1. Make sure that your fax machine is connected directly to your TalkParade Phone Adaptor. 2. Make sure that you can place a regular call via that line by unplugging the fax machine from the TalkParade Phone Adaptor and plugging in a phone. 3. If your call completes but your fax transmittal is still being interrupted, make sure your fax speed is set to 9600 baud or lower. Why does the audio in my conversation cut in and out? Check with your Internet provider to see what download and upload speeds they are providing. In order for the TalkParade Phone Adaptor to function properly, you need to have a minimum of 128k download and upload speed. Instructions how to reboot your home network: 1. Shut down your computer. 2. Unplug your Cable or DSL modem from the outlet. 3. Wait 15 seconds and plug the Cable or DSL modem back into the outlet. Wait approximately 2 minutes for you Cable or DSL modem to reboot. 4. Unplug your router from the outlet. 5. Wait 60 seconds and plug the router back into the outlet. Wait approximately 2 minutes for your router to reboot. 6. Reboot your computer and check to make sure that you access the Internet. Instructions how to reboot your TalkParade Phone Adaptor: 1. Unplug your TalkParade Phone Adaptor from the outlet. 2. Wait 60 seconds and plug the TalkParade Phone Adaptor back into the outlet. Wait approximately 30 seconds for the red light to stop blinking. 3. You are now ready to use your TalkParade service. |
